Fiddler crabs are occasionally used for saltwater baits. Although difficult to catch, they can be found in marshes and along shorelines.
Fiddler crabs must be kept alive until used for bait. If kept cool and moist but not submerged, they can live for long periods of time.
Fiddler crabs are useful for catching tautog, black sea bass, porgy, sheepshead, croaker, spot, pigfish, seatrout, flounder, and other species that are found over shell beds or rocky bottoms.
